Introducing `arxivscan`, a lightweight arXiv paper scanner
I have been working on a small project for the past few days, and I am happy to announce that it is now ready for public
use. The project is called arxivscan
, and it is a lightweight arXiv paper scanner. You can use it to automatically
get email notifications when new papers are published on arXiv that match your search criteria. Possible search criteria
include author names, keywords, or arXiv categories, among others. Currently, the scanner is configured to run on
startup of your local machine as a cron job, but it can be easily modified to run on a server or in the cloud.
I find this tool very useful, as it allows me to keep up to date with the latest research without having to trawl through the paper floods on arXiv every day. I hope you find it useful as well!
You can find the repository with the code and instructions here:
arxivscan
on GitHub
P.S.: Currently, the project is still very much aimed at my personal setup with a Linux machine and a Gmail account. If you adapt it to your own setup and extend on my work, I would be happy to hear about it and merge your changes into the main repository!
